Welcome to linear control laboratory

In this laboratory one will be familiarized with linear control systems(LCSL). In this regard, some experiments have been designed such that students will become acquaintance with analysis, implementation, process Identification and various controllers. Afterwards, they will learn the applications of these systems in some control process.

Educational procedure

Experiments have been contrived in two parts in general.

First part: electrical implementation of linear processes and controllers.

1)      Familiarity with the ways of electrical implementation and process identification and controllers:

a)      Familiarity with Operational Amplifier(Op-Amp).

b)      Implementation of transfer function by OP-Amp.

2)      Comparison of controls without feedback(Open-Loop) and controls with feedback(Closed-Loop)

a)      Implementation of controllers Open-Loop systems.

b)      Implementation of lead compensator.

c)      Assessment as to how function of closed-loop and open-loop vary versus changes in system parameters.

3)       Implementation and Identification of lead compensators and how to use it in closed loop systems.

a)      Implementation and Identification of lead compensators.

b)      Application of lead compensators in closed-loop systems.

4)      Implementation and Identification of lag compensation and how to use it in closed-loop systems.

a)      Implementation and identification of lag compensators.

b)      Application of lag compensators in closed-loop systems.

5)      How to implement proportional-Integral-Derivative(PID)

a)      Implementation of Proportional controller(P).

b)      Implementation of Proportional-Integral controller(PI).

c)      Implementation of Proportional-Derivative controller(PD).

d)      Implementation of Proportional-Integral-Derivative controller(PID).

e)      Coefficients regulation of Proportional-Integral-Derivative controller by Ziegler Nichols method.

Second part: Identification of industrial processes

1)      Thermal process

a)      Identification of static characteristic of thermal process.

b)      Identification of dynamic characteristic of thermal process.

c)      Designing controller for controlling the temperature of thermal process.

2)      DC servo motor

a)      Identification of static characteristics of servo motor

b)      Identification of dynamic characteristics of servo motor.

c)      Designing controllers in order to control of motor speed.

d)       Designing controllers in order to control of motor angle.
